How to download TikTok videos
Save a public TikTok video as an MP4 file, or keep only its sound as an MP3. It is handy for backing up your own clips, keeping a video you were given permission to reuse, or watching offline on a flight.
Step by step
- In the TikTok app, open the video and tap the Share arrow on the right.
- Tap Copy link. In a browser, copy the address of the video page instead.
- Paste the link in the box above and press Download.
- Choose the video quality, or Audio only to save the sound as MP3.

If the download does not work
- Short links from the app (vm.tiktok.com) work too; we follow them to the full video.
- Videos from private accounts, or ones the creator has deleted, cannot be fetched.
- Photo slideshows are not videos and are not supported yet.
